Slow Stitch's Fashion Design Lab is a small group 4 wk series class for kids to learn sewing & to express themselves through fashion.

Slow Stitch Detroit Youth Fashion Design Lab

A weekly, student-centered design lab where young makers turn ideas into wearable art. Students learn fashion drawing, pattern basics, hand and machine sewing, and garment construction using upcycled and sustainable materials. Guided by professional designers, each student develops projects at their own pace while building real technical skills.

We have classes for 3 age groups: 8-10, 11-14, 14-18. Class size limited to 7 students.

**WE ARE CURRENTLY ORGANIZING CLASSES FOR FALL/WINTER- IF INTERESTED- PLEASE REACH OUT AND WE CAN SCEHDULE WITH YOU.

*classes are after-school from 4-5:30pm.

Our Approach Emphasizes:

• Skill-building through finished projects

• Sustainable thinking & environmental responsibility

• The legacy and innovation of African American designers & icons

Program Details:

• 4-week monthly sessions; tuition paid in full at the start of each session

• Each month has a themed project completed over four classes

• Missed classes cannot be remade

•Students will have showcases for family and community

• Students who want to learn all year long can book 1 month at a time- each month has a different theme.

*Students will create a workbook to document their ideas & projects
